We are hiring a social minded GIS Data Analyst to extend the usability, performance, reliability, and capabilities for our KB System. The GIS Data Analyst will work closely with our Data Scientists, Technical Field Program Manager, Senior Backend Developer, Frontend developer and Design Lead We are looking for passionate, self-starters and team players who want to make a positive impact on the health of mothers and children from underserved communities by applying their deep knowledge of technology as a vehicle. We are looking for multi-skilled candidates with a quantitative background for the position of GIS analyst. GIS analysts are responsible for discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping, developing mapping applications and tools and managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types, among other duties. GIS analysts will need to explain geographic trends and findings from their analyses to stakeholders, requiring excellent written and verbal communication. Professional Experience: Minimum 2 years professional experience as GIS analyst

Responsibilities Include:

• Identify patterns in data. This includes having a keen sense of pattern detection and anomaly detection.
• Spatial analysis, satellite imaginary analysis, hot spots & cold spots analysis.
• Analyzing spatial data through the use of mapping software.
• Discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data.
• Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.
• Creating "shapefiles" to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map.
• Producing maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data, including disease prevalence and hospital locations.
• Developing mapping applications and tools.
• Converting physical maps into a digital form for computer usage.
• Performing data munging and cleaning to convert data into its desired form.
• Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations.
• Managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types.

Background, Skills & Experience

Masters/Phd degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Engineering or related field. 2+ years experience in an analytic role. Proficiency with database programming languages such as Python, R or SQL. Proficiency with front end design languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and various mapping languages. Experience with mapping tools such as ESRI, QGIS and Carto. Experience with GPS measuring tools. Outstanding quantitative skill set. Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills. Analytical mindset. Excellent written and verbal communication. Good interpersonal skills.
